Houthi militia confirms nine leaders killed in Yemen West Coast clashes

The Houthi militia has confirmed the deaths of nine members, including several high-ranking figures with military ranks such as brigadier general, during recent clashes with government forces on Yemen’s West Coast front. The deceased, hailing from the Saada, Hajjah, and Dhamar governorates, were identified as Fouad al-Mahoul, Imad al-Hashidi, Abdullah al-Haffar, Ali al-Ansi, Ismail al-Ahnumi, Yasser al-Zubairi, Abdulrahman al-Ajri, Abdulrahman al-Hadwi, and Mohammed al-Zubairi.

The fatalities follow a large-scale Houthi offensive launched last week. The National Resistance reported that intense fighting occurred between August 9 and September 10 across axes stretching from Hays to Al-Kadha, Maqbanah, and Al-Burh. The resistance stated that the Houthi assault involved missile shelling, drone strikes, and explosive-laden boats.

According to estimates from the National Resistance, the Houthi militia suffered over 1,000 deaths and thousands of injuries, while government forces sustained more than 500 deaths and approximately 1,500 injuries. The National Resistance accused the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and its regional allies of providing direct support to the Houthi offensive. In response to the escalation, government forces have decided to reposition to new defensive lines to preserve combat capabilities and prevent encirclement.
