Houthi rebels claim shootdown of Saudi F-15 jet in Yemen

Houthi rebels in Yemen claim to have shot down a Saudi Arabian F-15 fighter jet over the Marib province. The group released video footage and images purportedly showing the aircraft being struck by a locally manufactured surface-to-air missile and the subsequent wreckage.

Analysis of the footage, including a tail fin bearing the Saudi flag and serial number 5529, suggests the downed aircraft was an F-15SA (Saudi Advanced) variant. Satellite imagery has been used to locate the crash site in a remote, hilly area approximately 40 kilometers west of Marib.

In addition to the shootdown claim, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree stated that their forces engaged and forced the withdrawal of two formations of Saudi F-15 and Typhoon fighter jets that were searching for the downed aircraft. Saudi Arabia has not officially confirmed the loss of any aircraft.
