Saudi Arabia intercepts Houthi missiles as Riyadh airport partially reopens FAST-MOVING

The Saudi-led coalition announced the interception of at least 10 ballistic missiles and several drones targeting southern Saudi Arabia and the capital, Riyadh, on Sunday, October 25, 2026. The barrage included a cruise missile targeting Khamis Mushait and projectiles directed toward the Mecca and Madinah provinces, where shrapnel fell in areas including Jeddah and Taif.

Amidst the escalation, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh resumed limited operations. Terminal 1 has been designated for domestic flights, while Terminal 2 is handling international flights operated by national carriers. This partial reopening follows a two-week suspension caused by a Houthi attack on October 10, which killed at least 12 people and injured over 300.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree warned that the airport remains a military target and is unsafe for use, urging airlines and passengers to avoid the facility. The group also claimed responsibility for targeting oil facilities and military bases in Khamis Mushait and Jizan. In response to the heightened security risk, the US Department of State previously ordered non-emergency government employees and their families to leave Saudi Arabia.
