Houthis claim missile attack on Saudi military vessels in Red Sea

The Houthi movement has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Saudi military vessel and four escort boats in the Red Sea near the port of Mocha. According to Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree, the group used missiles to strike the vessels, an action part of a “blockade for blockade” strategy intended to counter what they describe as a Saudi siege on Yemen.

Reports indicate the attack targeted a landing craft and its escorts, with some accounts suggesting the strike set vessels ablaze. While the Houthis claim to be targeting military assets, the escalation occurs near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a critical international shipping chokepoint. Saudi authorities have not immediately confirmed the details of the engagement. This follows a previous Houthi attack in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait last week, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of four crew members.
