Houthis claim to have downed Saudi F-15 jet over Marib

Houthi forces in Yemen announced the downing of a Saudi Arabian F-15 fighter jet over Marib province. According to Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree, the aircraft was targeted using a locally produced surface-to-air missile.

Saree further claimed that other Saudi F-15 and Typhoon aircraft were forced to retreat from the area after attempting to search for the downed jet's wreckage. The Houthi spokesperson also reported that Saudi Arabia had conducted more than 450 airstrikes over the past week, targeting various Yemeni provinces including Taiz, Lahij, Al-Jawf, Hajjah, Marib, Saada, and Al-Bayda, using aircraft flying from Khamis Mushait and Taif bases.

In response to allegations that Houthi operations target holy sites, the group denied any intention to strike Mecca, asserting that their military operations are strictly focused on Saudi military bases and oil facilities. Mohammed Abdulsalam, a negotiator for the Sanaa-based government, described the incident as a significant blow to the Saudi military's reputation and a demonstration of growing Yemeni aerial defense capabilities.
