Houthis redeploy police forces and vehicles to Yemen battlefronts
Security sources within the Houthi-controlled Ministry of Interior in Sanaa report large-scale transfers of police personnel and military vehicles to combat zones. Between 20% and 40% of the police human resources, including members of the judicial police and facility police, have been moved to the Taiz governorate to participate in active fighting.
In addition to personnel, approximately 70% of police vehicles and patrols have been redirected to front lines and recently seized areas in Taiz and southern Al Hudaydah. These deployments serve two primary purposes: direct combat on the front lines and providing rear-guard security in newly controlled territories to allow other combat units to move forward.
To consolidate control, the Houthi militia is reportedly replacing local police elements in these regions with new personnel brought in from Sanaa, Amran, Hajjah, Dhamar, Ibb, and Saada. This move is viewed as a strategic effort to increase direct command over local security apparatuses and reduce reliance on individuals with existing social ties to local populations.
