Howard Stern brings weekly show to HBO Max amid SiriusXM changes

Howard Stern is expanding his media presence through a new partnership between HBO Max, SiriusXM, and The Howard Stern Production Company. Starting September 17, weekly filmed adaptations of ‘The Howard Stern Show’ will debut on HBO Max. These episodes will be derived from his live Monday broadcasts on SiriusXM, which are being captured by 40 cameras to create a studio-based video format for streaming.

This expansion coincides with a significant restructuring of Stern’s radio programming. His live SiriusXM schedule is reducing from two days a week to one. Consequently, SiriusXM has removed the Howard 101 channel from its lineup, with Andy Cohen’s ‘Radio Andy’ moving into the Channel 101 slot. Stern will retain control of his flagship Howard 100 channel, which will feature an updated lineup including ‘Wrap Up Wednesday’ hosted by Gary Dell’Abate and Jon Hein.

The transition follows reports of staff layoffs at Stern’s production, with approximately a dozen employees reportedly let go as the operation scales back its original radio output while moving toward a larger global video audience.
