SiriusXM programming reorganization and Howard Stern media

Overview

SiriusXM is implementing a programming reorganization that includes the closure of Howard 101, the archive channel for Howard Stern, effective September 1. While the archive channel will be removed, Stern’s live programming will continue on Howard 100. The realignment also involves moving Radio Andy to channel 101 and shifting various comedy, news, and sports channels to new positions.

In addition to the SiriusXM restructuring, Howard Stern is expanding his media presence through a partnership with HBO Max and The Howard Stern Production Company. Beginning September 17, 2026, a weekly adapted video version of ‘The Howard Stern Show’ will debut on HBO Max for global audiences. These episodes will be derived from his live Monday broadcasts, utilizing 40 cameras to create a studio-based video format. SiriusXM confirmed the partnership, noting the endeavor will adapt the live show into streamable episodes, potentially including periodic extra content.

This expansion coincides with a reduction in Stern’s live SiriusXM schedule, which is moving from two days a week to one. The new season of the SiriusXM show is set to return on September 14. Beth Stern has expressed enthusiasm regarding the HBO Max arrangement, describing the move as a “win-win” for the family, noting that the reduced work schedule would allow Stern more time at home. The updated Howard 100 lineup will include ‘Wrap Up Wednesday’ hosted by Gary Dell’Abate and Jon Hein.

These transitions follow reports of staff reductions within Stern’s radio operation, with previous reports citing approximately 50 employees affected, while more recent reports indicate approximately a dozen employees were let go as the operation scales back radio output to focus on a larger global video audience.
