HoYoverse reveals Nodusfall, a dark fantasy co-op RPG
HoYoverse, the developer behind Genshin Impact, has unveiled its new project, Nodusfall, during Gamescom 2026. The title represents a significant departure from the studio’s established anime-style aesthetic, opting instead for a dark fantasy setting built on Unreal Engine 5.
Nodusfall is a free-to-play, cooperative action RPG that draws inspiration from various mythologies and gameplay styles reminiscent of Monster Hunter and Souls-like titles. Players assume the role of Weavers in a world where divine authority has collapsed, battling massive, corrupted creatures known as the Dreadnodi.
In a major shift for the studio, developers confirmed that Nodusfall will not utilize a gacha system for character acquisition. Instead, characters will be unlocked through continuous gameplay and progression. The studio indicated that monetization will likely focus on cosmetic items. While the reveal has generated significant interest, it has also faced scrutiny from some players regarding visual similarities to Elden Ring.
