HoYoverse has announced Nodusfall, a new free-to-play, cooperative dark fantasy action RPG, during Gamescom 2026. The project marks a technical and stylistic departure for the studio, moving from the Unity Engine and bright anime aesthetics to Unreal Engine 5 and a more grim atmosphere.

In Nodusfall, up to four players act as ‘Weavers’ to battle massive, corrupted creatures known as the ‘Dreadnodi’. A significant change in the studio’s business model was confirmed: the game will not utilize a gacha system for character acquisition. Instead, characters will be unlocked through continuous gameplay and progression, with monetization expected to focus on cosmetic items.
