Hoyoverse announces Nodusfall dark fantasy action game
Hoyoverse has announced Nodusfall, a new cooperative dark fantasy action game, during the Opening Night Live event at Gamescom 2026. Departing from the studio's signature bright anime aesthetic seen in titles like Genshin Impact, Nodusfall features a grim atmosphere and utilizes Unreal Engine 5, marking a technical shift from their previous use of the Unity Engine.
The gameplay focuses on up to four players taking on the roles of Weaver characters to battle massive bosses in a hostile environment. Notably, Hoyoverse stated that characters will not be unlocked through the traditional gacha-style random draws used in their other games. Instead, players will unlock characters through continuous gameplay. While the title will be free-to-play, the company indicated that monetization will likely focus on cosmetic content rather than character pulls.
