Hradec Králové invests 1.9 million CZK in temporary square upgrades

Hradec Králové has invested approximately 1.9 million CZK into temporary modifications of Velké náměstí. The project includes the installation of twelve mobile greenery containers, wooden platforms, folding chairs, and tables to create new leisure areas.

Local residents have criticized the decision to use potted trees rather than planting them directly into the ground, arguing that the city needs shade and permanent greenery. The city administration responded that planting trees into the ground at this stage would be impractical due to a planned comprehensive reconstruction of the square. The current elements are designed to last two to five years and will be relocated or repurposed after the main reconstruction, which is expected to include the planting of 40 permanent trees.
