Hristo Gadzhev sworn in as Bulgarian MP, replacing Delyan Dobrev

Hristo Gadzhev took the oath of office as a member of the Bulgarian National Assembly on 25 June 2026, filling the seat vacated by Delyan Dobrev from the GERB‑SDS list for the 24‑th multi‑member constituency (Sofia). Dobrev submitted his resignation on 22 June, and the parliament approved the termination of his mandate with 187 votes in favour, three members voting against and one abstaining.

Gadzhev is a veteran GERB politician, first entering parliament in 2014 during the 43rd legislature. He has served continuously through the 44th to the 50th sessions, primarily focusing on defence and national security, and has chaired the parliamentary defence committee. In his statement, Dobrev said he would continue to support party activities, thanking former prime minister Boyko Borisov for two decades of backing.

The transition maintains the GERB‑SDS representation in the assembly and reflects the party’s internal succession planning.
