Huế issues flood and landslide warnings amid heavy rainfall

Heavy rainfall in Huế has triggered widespread landslides and maritime incidents. Authorities have issued warnings for 16 communes and wards regarding potential flash floods, landslides, and ground subsidence. Soil moisture levels in several areas have reached or exceeded 80% saturation, increasing the risk of geological instability.

Significant landslides have occurred on National Highway 49 and the Ho Chi Minh Highway through the A Lưới area, with approximately 2,000 cubic meters of earth and rock blocking roadways. Emergency crews have been deployed to clear debris and manage traffic safety.

In maritime areas, heavy rain and rough seas caused a fishing vessel to sink while anchored at Thuận An port, resulting in initial estimated damages of 250 million VND. Additionally, the 24,000-ton cargo ship Star City drifted and ran aground in the Chân Mây - Lăng Cô sea area. Local authorities are currently implementing rescue plans for the vessel.
