Huanggang Port completes major passenger and vehicle pressure test

Hong Kong and Shenzhen authorities have completed a major large-scale pressure test at the new Huanggang crossing to prepare for its official opening. The exercise involved over 20,000 civil servants from more than 70 government departments and simulated peak-hour conditions to test passenger clearance, crowd management, and transport connections.

The drill included the first test of a “five-in-one” integrated vehicle lane, which allows for simultaneous customs, immigration, and health inspections. This system reduced vehicle clearance time to approximately one minute. For passengers, the exercise tested cooperative self-service channels and the ability of public transport interchanges to handle large, sudden influxes of travelers.

Security Bureau Secretary Deng Bingqiang noted that the operation was generally smooth, with maximum transit times not exceeding 15 minutes. He also announced that once the port opens, citizens will have the flexibility to use either their Hong Kong identity card or Mainland travel permit for e-channels. Officials will now conduct internal reviews and consult with Shenzhen authorities to finalize the official opening date.
