CFE workers' remains found in Huauchinango, Puebla
Human remains believed to be two CFE workers, Adolfo López Saldaña and Marco Antonio Sarmiento García, were discovered in a forested area of Huauchinango, Puebla. The discovery occurred near kilometer 138 of the Mexico-Tuxpan highway.
The two men had been missing since June 26, when they disappeared while performing technical duties near the border of Puebla and Hidalgo. Their official vehicles, which had been stripped of logos and plates, were previously found abandoned in the community of La Mesa, Acaxochitlán.
Preliminary findings suggest the remains belong to the workers due to the presence of clothing matching official CFE uniforms. The Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) is leading the investigation, which includes forensic DNA testing to officially confirm the identities. This follows the previous arrest of eight individuals linked to the case for the crime of aggravated kidnapping.
