Disappearance and death of CFE workers in Puebla
Overview
Two Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) workers, Adolfo López Saldaña and Marco Antonio Sarmiento García, were found dead in a forested area near Huauchinango, Puebla, on October 2. The men had been missing since June 26, when they disappeared while performing technical duties near the border of Puebla and Hidalgo.
Prior to the discovery of the remains, their official vehicles—which had been stripped of logos and plates—were found abandoned in Acaxochitlán. Eight individuals had previously been arrested in connection with the case for aggravated kidnapping.
The Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) led the investigation, utilizing forensic DNA testing to confirm the identities of the remains due to advanced decomposition. Following the identification process, the families of the workers began funeral services.
