Huawei unveils Pura X2 with new 2:1 wide‑fold screen
Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. is preparing to launch the second‑generation wide‑foldable smartphone, the Pura X2. The device will keep the 6.3‑inch inner display of its predecessor but will change both inner and outer screens to a 2:1 (approximately √2:1) aspect ratio. Huawei executive Yu Chengdong has highlighted that this proportion stays constant when the screen is folded, reducing visual distortion and eliminating the black bars that appear on many large‑fold devices when playing video content.
The Pura X2’s design follows the look of the earlier Pura X Max, and the new screen geometry gives it a usable display area comparable to a 6.9‑inch iPhone 16 Pro Max. The change aims to improve the viewing experience for mainstream video formats while retaining the compact, pocket‑friendly size of a wide‑fold phone.
