Huawei is advancing its wide-aspect ratio smartphone lineup, beginning with the launch of the Pura X Max in the Chinese market on April 20, 2026. Priced at 10,999 yuan, the Pura X Max features a 5.4-inch OLED display when closed that expands to a 7.7-inch flexible OLED panel. Huawei executive Yu Chengdong noted that this proportion remains constant when folded, which helps reduce visual distortion and eliminate the black bars often seen on large foldable devices during video playback.

In August 2026, Huawei unveiled the Pura X View, a non-folding ‘wide-screen candybar’ device marketed as being ‘born for content’. Ahead of its scheduled September 9 sales launch, the device has been detailed as featuring a 6.39-inch LTPO OLED display with a 16:9.5 aspect ratio, 1.05 mm symmetrical bezels, and a 96.1% screen-to-body ratio. The handset is powered by the Kirin 9030S chipset, includes a 7,000 mAh battery with 66W wired and 50W wireless charging, and supports BeiDou satellite messaging. The camera system comprises a 200MP main sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide macro lens, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera. Pricing for the Pura X View starts at CNY 5,999 for the 256GB model and reaches CNY 8,499 for the 1TB version.
