Huelva Colombinas 2026 festival opens with new riverside venue
The city of Huelva launched the Colombinas 2026 celebrations with a ceremony led by Mayor Pilar Miranda, Palos de la Frontera Mayor Milagros Romero, and Argentine ambassador Wenceslao Bunge Saravia. The event marked the return of the festival to the Ría, featuring a new concert space, improved access routes and a connection to the Paseo de la Ría. The venue’s façade is illuminated by more than 148,000 LED bulbs and reproduces the historic arch that welcomed the 1926 Plus Ultra aviators, commemorating the flight’s centenary.
The opening night also introduced the exhibition hall showcasing displays on the Plus Ultra and shared history between Huelva and Palos de la Frontera. Musical programming for Thursday highlighted flamenco, with performances by Ana de Caro, the group Gloria Bendita and emerging singer Marta Santos, who opened the night with songs from her album "Aquí no Sobra Nadie". The festival’s lineup emphasizes local talent and the region’s cultural heritage.
