2026 Huelva Colombinas Festival events

Entities: Huelva · Plus Ultra · Pilar Miranda · Ponce Bernal · Juan Magán

Overview

In late June 2026 Huelva officials announced fireworks programmes for Denia and Huelva (castle display 12 July, children’s rocket launch 3 July, nighttime mascletà 8 July). By mid‑July the Colombinas dates (29 July–3 August) were set, a public holiday declared for 3 August, and over fifty river‑front fairground booths installed. The concert zone moved to the former Tiro Pichón area (≈2 ha), with more than 1.4 million lighting points and reinforced access routes. Casa Colón reopened on 20 July with EU‑funded energy‑efficient climate and lighting systems and a new tourist‑information hub. A decoration competition for the booths launched on 24 July; results were announced on 30 July by Mayor Pilar Miranda and Culture Councillor Nacho Molina.

The festival opened on 29 July with a ceremony led by Mayor Miranda, Palos mayor Milagros Romero, Argentine ambassador Wenceslao Bunge Saravia and child mayor Carlos Martínez. A new riverside concert venue linking the fairground to the Paseo de la Ría features a façade illuminated by more than 148 000 LED bulbs reproducing the historic arch that welcomed the 1926 Plus Ultra aviators, alongside an exhibition hall on the flight’s heritage. Thursday’s programme highlighted local flamenco talent (Ana de Caro, Gloria Bendida, Marta Santos). On 31 July a major bullfighting card at La Merced showcased Miguel Ángel Perera, Roca Rey and David de Miranda with cattle from the Juan Pedro Domecq herd.

Later, Spanish rock band Viva Suecia delivered a high‑energy performance at the Colombinas festival, creating a “collective celebration” that resonated with the crowd. The Hermandad de la Fe brotherhood won first place in the 2026 Concurso de Decoración de Casetas, receiving €1 000; Hermandad de las Tres Caídas placed second with €500. The awards were presented by Mayor Miranda, Councillor Molina and Palos mayor Romero.
