Huelva province receives €41.5 million disaster aid for agriculture after wildfires and storms

The rural union ASAJA‑Huelva and several local mayors met with sub‑delegate María José Rico to demand urgent assistance after the July wildfires that swept through the Andévalo dehesa, destroying thousands of hectares of pasture, infrastructure and forest and prompting calls for a catastrophic‑zone declaration.

The Spanish government responded by earmarking €41,549,074 for the recovery of Huelva’s primary sector. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has already distributed more than €40 million to 3,244 farmers, ranchers and fishing fleet owners in two payment rounds, with a third list of beneficiaries to be published. The aid targets those whose losses were not covered by insurance, covering restoration costs, feed purchases and compensation for lost fishing income.

Rico indicated that the matter will be presented to Secretary of State Hugo Morán and that both national and European funding lines are being examined to support the region’s long‑term recovery.
