Huelva province receives €70 million boost as government expands public investments

The Provincial Council of Huelva announced that it has eliminated its debt and transferred €70 million to municipalities in a single year, a 444 % increase over the previous term. The new funding is part of programmes such as “Tu Diputación Actúa” and “Tu Diputación Invierte,” and the council’s 2026 budget totals €238 million, with €79 million earmarked for social services that currently assist more than 9,300 residents.

Separately, the PSOE’s regional secretary highlighted the central government’s spending in Huelva, noting more than €250 million invested in the Huelva‑Zafra railway line, €33.7 million for five AVE projects to Sevilla, and over €90 million for road improvements. Additional allocations include €28 million for the Drone Test Centre, €3 billion in state funds for the national green‑hydrogen strategy, and €118 million for disaster relief after recent storms, of which €90 million was transferred directly to local authorities.

Together, the provincial and national funds aim to modernise transport infrastructure, support renewable‑energy projects, and bolster community services across the province.
