Following a massive forest fire in the Niebla region that burned approximately 33,000 hectares across eleven municipalities, recovery efforts are underway in Huelva, Spain. The municipality of Berrocal was severely impacted, with the fire affecting between 90% and 95% of its territory.

The Huelva Provincial Council has approved 20,000 euros in urgent aid for Berrocal to address immediate needs and will provide technical support and personnel to assist the local government in managing recovery efforts.

In Niebla, the City Council has launched a damage assessment process, granting residents, farmers, and landowners a 15-business-day window to report material and property losses. Affected parties must submit detailed reports including photographic evidence and estimated economic damages.

Atalaya Mining has also pledged its support to the affected areas, joining calls for Berrocal and Aznalcóllar to be declared zones seriously affected by civil protection emergencies. During the firefighting operations, the company deployed heavy machinery, including bulldozers and a 38,000-liter water tank, to assist in creating firebreaks and managing water supplies.
