Huila police stations hit by drone and explosive attacks

A bomb exploded at the police station in Íquira, Huila, on the night of 2 August, injuring a police officer and killing a police dog named “Mono.” In response, Mayor María Alejandra Ruiz Mallungo issued Decree 033, imposing road closures, a ban on motorcycle vendors, and a midnight curfew for commercial activity from 7‑9 August, measures that will remain in place until 10 August.

A second attack occurred on 7 August in the town of Teruel, Huila, where drones were used to drop fragmentation grenades on the police station that also houses the municipal mayor’s office. Two internet‑service workers suffered minor shrapnel injuries. Authorities preliminarily attribute the incident to dissident factions of the FARC, and the area remains cordoned off for investigation.
