Huila province road accidents cause multiple fatalities in Angola

A series of fatal road accidents has occurred on the EN-280 highway in Angola's Huila province. A major crash in the Matala municipality involving a Toyota Yace carrying 19 passengers resulted in 14 deaths and five serious injuries. Preliminary reports suggest the vehicle lost control after a tire burst, leading to a collision with a fixed object and an immediate fire that consumed the vehicle and the victims' personal documents.

The Criminal Investigation Service's Legal Medicine Department is currently working to identify the deceased to notify their families. While official forensic results are pending, authorities noted that excessive speed is a suspected contributing factor.

In a separate incident in the Quipungo municipality, a vehicle from the Cuvango Municipal Command overturned in Nossasa. The accident, reportedly caused by a rear tire burst, killed National Police Agent Ndyamuene Tomás Shipena. The driver of that vehicle remains in stable condition at the Quipungo Municipal Hospital. These incidents follow another recent accident on the same highway that caused three deaths.
