Hulu docuseries details Dan Markel murder-for-hire plot

Hulu is set to release a four-part docuseries, ‘Welcome to the Family: The Murder of Dan Markel’, detailing the 2014 contract killing of Florida State University law professor Dan Markel. The series explores the complex investigation into the murder-for-hire plot that originated from a contentious divorce and custody battle.

Markel was fatally shot in the garage of his Tallahassee, Florida, home in July 2014. Investigations eventually linked the crime to his former in-laws, Charlie and Donna Adelson. According to testimony and investigative findings, the plot involved paying individuals to carry out the killing following disputes over the custody and relocation of Markel’s sons.

The docuseries, directed by Sebastian Smith, utilizes interviews with law enforcement, friends, and neighbors to reconstruct the events leading up to the shooting and the subsequent decade-long legal process.
