Hulu to release docuseries on Dan Markel murder case

Hulu and Disney+ will release a four-part true-crime docuseries titled ‘Welcome to the Family: The Murder of Dan Markel’ on September 1, 2026. The series examines the 2014 killing of Dan Markel, a Florida law professor in Tallahassee, which was determined to be a murder-for-hire plot linked to a custody dispute following his divorce from Wendi Adelson.

The documentary features new interviews and exclusive audio, including accounts from individuals connected to the investigation. Notable participants include FBI agent Pat Sanford and Rob Adelson, the eldest son of the Adelson family, who has been estranged from his relatives and testified against his mother, Donna Adelson, during her trial.

Five individuals have been convicted in connection with the murder: Donna Adelson, Charlie Adelson, Sigfredo Garcia, Katherine Magbanua, and Luis Rivera. While Wendi Adelson has been described by prosecutors as an ‘unindicted co-conspirator,’ she has never been charged and has denied involvement.
