Yemen human rights groups report surge in civilian casualties and infrastructure damage
Human rights organizations and local officials in Yemen have reported a surge in civilian casualties and property destruction resulting from military actions in several governorates. The National Human Rights Commission documented strikes in Taiz, Saada, and Hajjah, including the destruction of the Al-Najdain School in Hayfan and damage to residential homes in Maqbanah and Razih.
In Saada and Al-Jawf, reports indicate that shelling has killed family members in residential areas, with the Commission characterizing these acts as potential war crimes. In the Hudaydah governorate, the Eye of Humanity for Rights and Development reported that 687 people were killed or wounded in the Hays and Al-Khawkhah districts. This report also highlighted significant economic damage, noting that approximately 47,020 fishing boats and landing centers were targeted.
Additionally, reports from the Jizan axis indicate that a strike targeting the Sixth Emergency Division resulted in approximately 90 casualties among recruits. Local activists have accused the military operations of using personnel as human shields and failing to protect civilian infrastructure, including mosques and medical centers.
