Human rights concerns in Pakistan raised at UNHRC

During the 63rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, activists and organizations raised significant concerns regarding the human rights situation in Pakistan.

Speakers highlighted the issue of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, citing reports of over 1,200 cases and numerous extrajudicial killings. Specific cases were brought to the Council's attention, including the detention of Baloch activists and the long-standing disappearance of individuals in the Sindh and Balochistan provinces.

Additional interventions focused on the treatment of religious minorities, including Hindu, Christian, Sikh, and Kalash communities. Concerns were raised regarding discrimination and attacks against these groups. Specifically, the Sambhali Trust addressed the protection of minority women and girls, noting reports of forced conversions and forced marriages, particularly in the Sindh region.
