Human rights concerns in Senegal and health initiatives in Burkina Faso

In Senegal, the organization Action pour les Droits Humains et l’Amitié (ADHA) has called on the state to implement social, judicial, and security responses to combat organized begging in urban areas like Dakar. The group noted that previous operations, such as the 2022 repatriation of over 1,000 Nigerien nationals, have not prevented the phenomenon from resurfacing. ADHA emphasized that simply relocating individuals does not dismantle the exploitation networks responsible for human trafficking and migrant smuggling, which are punishable under Senegalese law.

Meanwhile, in Manni, Burkina Faso, over 345 people participated in a community sanitation operation around the municipal slaughterhouse. Organized by local health services and municipal authorities, the initiative aimed to destroy mosquito breeding sites to combat vector-borne diseases like malaria and dengue. This effort aligns with the national ‘Zero Malaria by 2030’ vision, focusing on eliminating stagnant water and educating the public on disease transmission.
