Human rights concerns raised in Mauritania and Chad

In Mauritania, an open letter has been issued calling for an independent investigation into the alleged forced eviction of Fatou Kiné Sanghott from her home in Nouakchott. The property, reportedly acquired in 1973 by her late husband, is the subject of a dispute. Following the alleged intervention by police from the central court precinct, Ms. Sanghott is reportedly living in a tent in front of the residence.

In Chad, former minister and civil society member Fatimé Boukar Kosseï has released a message following one year of incarceration. After being sentenced to ten years in prison, Kosseï described her detention as a period of personal reflection and shared her experiences regarding the challenges of imprisonment and the changing behavior of those around her. She called for peace and solidarity among her compatriots.
