Human rights memory: Documentary re-release and historical records of the disappeared

The Espacio de Memoria RI9 in Corrientes will host a re-release of the documentary ‘Margarita Belén, un sueño inconcluso’, directed by Pablo Almirón. Originally filmed in 1996 by human rights activists and former political detainees, the film was lost for three decades until archivist Manuel Ibarra recovered and digitized VHS copies. The documentary features testimonies from survivors and family members regarding massacres committed during the last civic-military dictatorship.

In a related context of historical memory, records detail the fate of Eduardo José María Del Fabro, a Uruguayan militant of the Movimiento de Liberación Nacional Tupamaros. Del Fabro was kidnapped in Argentina on August 27, 1975, and his body was later discovered in the province of Buenos Aires. A 2002 report by the Commission for Peace confirmed his death, noting that he was among the Uruguayan citizens documented as disappeared in Argentina during that era.
