Human Rights Watch reports West Bank displacement due to settler violence

A new report by Human Rights Watch (HRW) states that dozens of Palestinian communities in the occupied West Bank are at risk of erasure due to escalating attacks by Israeli settlers and the expansion of illegal settlements.

The organization accuses Israeli authorities of actively enabling this violence by providing weapons, funding, and legal cover, while granting settlers impunity. HRW noted that settler violence has grown since the current Israeli government took office in December 2022, with attacks spiking during recent regional conflicts.

Reported abuses include killings, sexual violence, physical and mental abuse, arson, property demolition, and theft. HRW investigated seven specific communities in the Ramallah governorate, Nablus governorate, and the Jordan Valley during April and May. In response to these findings, the rights group has called for sanctions and the suspension of military aid to Israel.
