The second World Humanoid Robot Games, held in Beijing at the National Speed Skating Oval, has showcased significant advancements in bipedal robotics. A major highlight of the event was the Tiangong Ultra robot, developed by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, which completed a 100-meter dash in 9.39 seconds. This time surpasses the long-standing human world record of 9.58 seconds set by Usain Bolt in 2009. The Tiangong Ultra also set a new mark in the 400-meter race with a time of approximately 38.15 seconds.

Other notable performances included the Honor-developed Lightning robot, which clocked 9.47 seconds in the 100-meter sprint and reportedly achieved 9.32 seconds in a separate test run. The games feature 666 teams and over 2,056 robots from 16 countries, competing in 51 different events including football, boxing, martial arts, and table tennis.

While the event demonstrates rapid technological progress, observers noted practical challenges. Some robots struggled with stability, leading to falls or collisions with safety barriers after crossing finish lines. Additionally, industry experts continue to discuss the commercial viability of humanoid robots, focusing on the need for lower costs and better generalization capabilities for real-world tasks in factories and homes.
