Hunan province discovers massive gold ore system at Wangu mine

Geologists in Hunan Province, China, have discovered a massive gold ore system at the Wangu mine in Pingjiang County. Following over a year of continuous drilling involving 55 wells and 65 km of drill cores, officials have identified approximately 300 tons of gold at a depth of about 2,000 meters.

Analysis of rock samples revealed 'visible gold' in several drill cores, with some samples reaching a maximum concentration of 138 grams of gold per ton of ore. Based on 3D geological modeling, experts believe the ore bodies may extend to a depth of 3,000 meters. This leads to estimates that the total gold resources could exceed 1,000 to 1,100 tons, potentially making Wangu one of the largest gold mines in the world. The potential gold reserves at the site are valued at approximately 600 billion yuan (83 billion USD).
