Hunedoara police seize 700 L of hazardous waste and confiscate illegal firearms

On 18 June 2026, the Service of Arms, Explosives and Hazardous Substances of the Hunedoara County Police conducted a raid in Petroșani and discovered approximately 700 litres of hazardous chemical waste stored illegally in a garage. The waste, originating from industrial use, was kept without authorization or safety measures. Police seized the entire quantity and opened a criminal case for illegal storage, failure to dispose, and unsafe handling.

In the same operation, house searches in the communes of Dobra and Buceș uncovered a deteriorated revolver and 90 P1‑category pyrotechnic items held without proper licensing. Investigations for illegal possession of weapons and explosives were launched. These actions are part of a national programme aimed at combating illicit management of dangerous substances and protecting public safety.
