Hung Yen police crack down on human trafficking in karaoke bars

Police in Hung Yen Province have uncovered several cases of human trafficking and illegal labor exploitation involving karaoke establishments. Authorities report that certain individuals have used job recruitment as a cover to control and transfer female workers for illicit profit.

In a recent operation on August 30, criminal police identified four suspects involved in the trafficking and transfer of karaoke staff, two of whom were under the age of 18. This follows a series of investigations, including a May incident where 14 defendants, including karaoke managers and handlers, were proposed for prosecution for human trafficking and illegal detention.

While Hung Yen has approximately 800 karaoke and lodging businesses, most comply with legal regulations. However, these recent criminal activities highlight a trend of using employment brokerage to facilitate the trafficking of female employees for illegal gains.
