Hung Yen police investigate human trafficking in karaoke venues

The Ministry of Public Security has issued a warning regarding human trafficking and labor exploitation disguised as job recruitment within the karaoke industry. While most karaoke and lodging businesses in Hung Yen province operate legally, criminal activities have been uncovered involving the illegal sale and transfer of female employees.

In one instance, Hung Yen provincial police requested the prosecution of 14 defendants for human trafficking and illegal detention. These individuals, primarily karaoke managers and handlers, allegedly traded female staff for brokerage fees. Other recent investigations have led to the criminal prosecution of four individuals for human trafficking, including cases where the victims were under 18 years of age.
