Vietnam traffic police use AI cameras to penalize repeat offenders

Traffic police in Vietnam are increasingly utilizing AI-powered camera systems to monitor and penalize road safety violations. In Bac Ninh, authorities identified a 46-year-old man who failed to wear a helmet 10 times at the same intersection within a single month, including instances where his passenger also failed to wear one.

In Hung Yen province, surveillance systems and patrols recorded hundreds of violations between late September and mid-October 2026. The majority of these infractions involved speeding, alongside running red lights and illegal parking. Authorities have urged vehicle owners to check for penalties and comply with Decree 168 to ensure road safety.

In Ho Chi Minh City, police are ramping up 'cold fine' enforcement through enhanced camera surveillance to proactively reduce traffic accidents. Citizens are encouraged to use the VNeTraffic mobile application to check for any outstanding traffic violations using their vehicle license plates.
