Hungarian and Romanian authorities conduct cross-border crime operations

Law enforcement agencies in Hungary and Romania conducted several operations targeting crime and border security. In Békés County, Hungary, police arrested a Romanian citizen in Medgyesegyház following a European Arrest Warrant. Other local incidents included the apprehension of an unlicensed driver in Szeghalm and the investigation of two investment scams in the Orosháza region, which resulted in losses exceeding 3 million forints.

Simultaneously, a joint Romanian-Hungarian operation took place in Szatmár County to combat illegal migration and cross-border crime. Authorities inspected approximately 1,000 individuals and over 400 vehicles near former border crossings and transit routes. The coordinated effort, involving Hungarian police from Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, focused on detecting human smuggling, stolen vehicles, illegal weapons, and environmental crimes such as the unauthorized transport of waste and timber.
