Artificial intelligence adoption expands across Hungarian sectors
Artificial intelligence is seeing rapid adoption across various sectors in Hungary, though its integration levels vary significantly. In the corporate sector, a survey by Serverelite indicates that 92% of Hungarian companies use some form of AI, with ChatGPT (69%) and Google Gemini (over 50%) being the most prevalent tools. However, most usage remains experimental or limited to specific areas, with only 27% utilizing AI broadly across multiple business functions.
In the software development industry, an AWS-commissioned study shows that 82% of Hungarian developers use AI tools daily, saving an average of 6.5 working hours per week. This shift is expected to change the nature of the profession, moving focus from manual coding toward AI system oversight and critical design within the next five years.
The healthcare sector is also seeing progress, with 63% of private healthcare institutions using AI-supported solutions, primarily for diagnostics and administration.
Contrasting these trends, former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon has raised alarms regarding the speed of AI development. He warns that the industry is racing toward self-improving superintelligence without sufficient safety measures, citing potential risks such as the creation of dangerous biological agents or attacks on critical infrastructure.
