Hungarian cultural festivals announced for August

Several cultural events are scheduled in Hungary for late August. The renewed Veszprém-Balaton Filmpiknik will take place in Veszprém and Balatonfüred from August 27–29, 2026. The film festival, featuring approximately sixty documentaries, shorts, and animated films, will be hosted by actress and producer Andrea Osvárt.

Additionally, the fourth Haydneum Eszterháza Festival will be held in Fertőd from August 28 to September 5. Set within the historical Esterházy Palace, the early music festival will feature performances by internationally recognized artists, including an opening concert of Joseph Haydn’s opera ‘Orlando paladino’ led by the Orfeo Ensemble under György Vashegyi.

Other regional cultural highlights include upcoming festivals in Szentendre, which will offer workshops and multidisciplinary programs.
