Overview
Hungarian towns continued to activate a nationwide summer cultural programme in late July and August. The Urban pARTy street‑art festival in Szombathely closed Kőszegi Street on 28 July for a day of 14 musical acts and 17 visual‑arts installations, while Kecskemét’s Kodály Festival opened on 29 July and ran through 2 August with classical concerts, exhibitions, city walks and outdoor performances celebrating Zoltán Kodály.
In August, the historic Kalandos Emlékhely series in Ópusztaszer offered daily heritage activities—including folk games, garden talks, traditional oven‑baking, wood‑carving and wind‑mill demonstrations—throughout the month. Budapest added a slate of free programmes: the Kashmir and Budapest Street Music festivals, open‑air cinema screenings in Bikás park, a pop‑up exhibition of 2000s club photography at the Hungarian Music House, plus workshops and performances across city squares and venues.
These additions complement earlier events in Békéscsaba, Kecskemét, Pécs, Debrecen and other cities, illustrating a sustained, low‑cost cultural push that blends music, visual arts, heritage tours and hands‑on workshops for residents and tourists throughout the Hungarian summer break.
