Hungarian summer and autumn cultural festivals
Overview
Hungarian towns continued a nationwide low-cost summer cultural programme through August 2026, featuring events such as the Malomvölgy Festival, the Bőköz Festival, and the 60th anniversary of the Debrecen Flower Carnival. National holiday celebrations in late August included a 4 billion HUF government program in Budapest.
Regional programming transitioned into September with community-focused events. In Katonatelep, the Szüreti Nap festival featured a cauldron cooking competition and saber fencing demonstrations. Kápolnásnyék hosted the Mihály-napi Vigasságok and Falunapot on September 18–19. Budapest hosted the 35th Budapest Wine Festival, the 10th anniversary of the Downtown Beer Festival, and the new multidisciplinary Fecskehajtó Festival, which celebrated the 25th anniversary of Hagyományok Háza.
Late September programming includes the XVII. Honvédfesztivál in Pákozd from September 26–29, commemorating the 1848 Battle of Pákozd through historical reenactments, cavalry demonstrations, and wreath-laying ceremonies. In Budakalás, the Autumn Arts Festival is scheduled for September 26, featuring contemporary dance, circus performances, and photography workshops. Additionally, artist Luca Korodi will present the painting series ‘In the Dust Spheres’ at the Textilgyár in Budapest from September 10 to September 29.
Looking ahead to October, Balatonalmádi will host the second Oktobeer Fesztivál from October 1–3, featuring Bavarian-themed food and live music at the Pannónia Művelődési Központ.
