Hungarian cultural festivals announced for late 2026
Several cultural events are scheduled for late 2026. The Hungarikum Fesztivál will take place on September 26 in Csepel, Budapest. This all-day event focuses on Hungarian traditions, folk art, and gastronomy. The program includes puppet shows, folk dancing, animal demonstrations, and a meeting with equestrian show jumper Lajos Kassai. Visitors can explore traditional crafts such as pottery and blacksmithing, alongside food offerings like goulash and traditional cakes.
Additionally, the 26th Filmtettfeszt Erdélyi Magyar Filmszemlén will be held from October 7 to 11. Centered in Kolozsvár, the film festival will expand to 15 other locations in Transylvania, including a new site in Four Villages, Brașov county. The festival will showcase recent Hungarian films, including works by Gábor Reisz, Bernadette Mayer, and György Pálfi, alongside documentaries and award-winning short films. The event features premieres, audience meetings, and professional programs.
