Hungarian drug trafficking suspect arrested in Serbia
A 31-year-old Hungarian man, wanted for organized drug trafficking, has been apprehended in Novi Sad, Serbia. The suspect had been under international investigation since 2022 after disappearing during legal proceedings.
Following intelligence gathered by Hungarian investigators, the European Fugitive Targeting Units Network (ENFAST) coordinated with Serbian authorities. The man was arrested in Novi Sad on his birthday. Although he initially attempted to use forged documents to hide his identity, he eventually admitted his true identity after being confronted by significant police presence.
The suspect is currently held in a local correctional facility in Novi Sad, and extradition proceedings have begun. A court in Novi Sad will decide his fate, and he may face additional criminal charges in Serbia for the use of falsified documents.
