Hungarian household securities wealth reaches 38.2 trillion forints
The total securities wealth of Hungarian households reached 38,240 billion forints by the end of June, marking a 15.1 percent increase over the previous year. This growth is driven by both increased purchasing and rising market prices.
Domestic securities held by households totaled 32,626 billion forints at the end of June, a monthly increase of 490.5 billion forints. The majority of this domestic wealth is concentrated in government bonds, valued at 14,455 billion forints, and investment funds, valued at 14,195 billion forints. Stock market equities account for approximately 3,215 billion forints.
Foreign securities are growing more dynamically than domestic ones, with the total value of foreign holdings rising 23 percent year-on-year to 5,614 billion forints. This includes 3,319 billion forints in foreign investment funds, 1,212 billion forints in foreign bonds, and nearly 1,083 billion forints in foreign equities.
Regarding weekly activity, retail purchases of government bonds totaled 44 billion forints in week 32, a decrease from the 61.8 billion forints recorded the previous week. More than half of these funds flowed into FixMÁP, which recently saw its interest rate reduced to 5.5 percent and its maturity period shortened from five years to three years.
