Hungarian Ministry of Interior files reports against National Sports Agency

The Hungarian Ministry of Interior has filed five new reports regarding the activities of the National Sports Agency (NSÜ). Minister Gábor Pósfai stated that these cases involve actions that allegedly placed the Hungarian state at a disadvantage and caused significant financial loss to public assets.

The investigations focus on the agency's management of real estate and movable property. Specific allegations include the circumvention of mandatory public tenders, the granting of unauthorized advantages in asset utilization, and the provision of state properties for free or indefinite use. Additionally, the ministry cited rental fees set significantly below market value and the procurement of equipment at heavily overvalued prices.

These legal steps follow the recent dismissal of the NSÜ CEO, Péter Bíró, in early September. The ministry noted that the audit process is ongoing as they continue to investigate questionable decisions and contracts. Previous reports indicated that the agency suffered revenue losses following contract modifications related to the Puskás Aréna, which included the transfer of VIP skyboxes to the Hungarian Football Federation.
