Hungarian MPs Press Government for Clear Stance on EU Migration Pact

Fidesz parliamentarians Takács Péter and Takács Árpád urged the Hungarian government to state unequivocally whether it will implement the European Union’s migration pact that entered into force on June 12. Both lawmakers warned that applying the pact could lead to increased illegal migration and legal obligations for Hungary, which has consistently opposed the agreement. They highlighted the pact’s provisions for EU‑wide registration of migrants and potential obligations for Hungary to host thousands of asylum‑seeker beds, arguing that such measures would undermine the country’s border security.
