Hungarian épée fencers advance to World Championship tables in Hong Kong

At the World Fencing Championships in Hong Kong, Hungary’s men’s épée squad saw Gergely Tóth open the competition with an unbeaten bout, securing a place in the round of 64 before being eliminated by Brazil. Other Hungarian male fencers, including Mihályi Andor and Nagy Blanka, also posted wins in the pool stage but fell short of the knockout rounds.

In the women’s épée, two of the four Hungarian athletes qualified for the top‑64. Olympic bronze‑medalist Eszter Muhari and Blanka Nagy progressed after pool victories, while Lili Büki missed out after a loss to China’s Jü Szi‑han and Emma Borsody failed to advance despite strong performances. The Hungarian women’s team had previously earned a silver medal at the European Championships in France.
